Product Care

LUXMOD furniture is built for daily use in homes, hotels and offices. A little routine care keeps upholstery, wood, stone and metal looking the way they did on delivery day. The guidance below covers the materials used across our collection; the care card packed with your piece, or your order confirmation, takes precedence for any specific finish.

Before you clean anything

  • Test every cleaner on a hidden spot first and let it dry fully before judging the result.
  • Blot, never rub. Rubbing pushes a spill deeper into fabric, leather and stone.
  • Use clean white cloths. Dyed cloths and printed paper towels can transfer color.
  • Keep furniture out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, vents and fireplaces. Heat and UV fade fabric and leather and dry out wood.
  • Lift, don't drag. Dragging stresses joints and legs and scratches floors.

Fabric upholstery

Bouclé, chenille, velvet, linen blends and performance fabrics

  • Vacuum weekly with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and grit before it works into the weave.
  • Rotate and flip loose seat and back cushions every few weeks so they wear evenly.
  • For spills, blot immediately with a dry white cloth. Follow with a cloth dampened in cool water and a drop of mild dish soap, working from the outside of the mark inward, then blot dry.
  • Velvet: brush gently in the direction of the pile after cleaning to restore the nap. Avoid pressing heavy objects on velvet for long periods.
  • Bouclé: do not pull loose loops; trim them flush with small scissors.
  • Pilling on textured fabrics is normal and can be removed with a fabric shaver.
  • For deep cleaning, use a professional upholstery cleaner familiar with the fabric type. Avoid steam on linen and bouclé.

Leather

Top-grain and full-grain leather, including oil-wax and retro finishes

  • Dust weekly with a soft dry cloth; vacuum seams and tufting with a brush attachment.
  • Wipe spills right away with a clean cloth dampened in distilled water. Do not use soap, saddle soap, alcohol, solvents or household cleaners.
  • Condition two to three times a year with a water-based leather conditioner to keep the hide supple.
  • Keep leather at least three feet from heat sources and out of direct sun; both cause fading and cracking.
  • Natural leather shows scars, grain variation and gradual patina. These are characteristics of real hide, not defects.
  • Dye from denim and dark clothing can transfer to light leather. Wipe light pieces more often if they see heavy use.

Solid wood and wood veneer

Oak, walnut, ash, rift-cut and natural veneers, lacquered and matte finishes

  • Dust with a soft, slightly damp cloth, wiping along the grain, then dry.
  • Use coasters, placemats and felt pads under anything hot, wet or abrasive. Heat rings and water marks are the most common damage we see.
  • Wipe spills promptly; standing liquid will lift veneer and whiten lacquer.
  • Avoid silicone polishes, ammonia and all-purpose sprays. A small amount of furniture wax once or twice a year is enough for oiled or matte finishes.
  • Wood moves with humidity. Keep rooms between roughly 35 and 55 percent relative humidity to prevent cracking or warping, especially with solid-wood dining tables.
  • Veneer and solid wood vary in grain and color from piece to piece and from the samples; this is natural.

Marble, natural stone and sintered stone

Marble, travertine, onyx and sintered or ceramic stone tops

  • Marble and natural stone are porous. Wipe spills immediately, especially wine, coffee, citrus, vinegar and oil, which stain or etch the surface.
  • Clean with warm water and a pH-neutral stone cleaner or a drop of mild dish soap. Never use vinegar, lemon, bleach or abrasive powders.
  • Reseal natural marble and travertine every 6 to 12 months with a penetrating stone sealer.
  • Sintered stone is non-porous and needs only a damp cloth and mild soap; it resists scratching and heat but can chip at edges from hard knocks.
  • Always use coasters and trivets. Do not drag objects across the top.
  • Natural stone carries veining, fossils and color variation that will differ from photos and samples.

Metal

Stainless steel, brushed and polished metal, gold, brass and powder-coated finishes

  • Wipe with a soft cloth and warm water; dry immediately to avoid water spots.
  • For stainless steel, wipe in the direction of the grain. A little glass cleaner removes fingerprints.
  • Gold and brass-tone finishes are plated or coated. Do not use abrasive pads, metal polish or acidic cleaners; they strip the finish.
  • Check and tighten bolts on bar stools, dining chairs and table bases every few months.

Glass

  • Clean with a soft cloth and a mild glass cleaner, spraying the cloth rather than the glass so cleaner does not run onto frames or wood.
  • Lift objects rather than sliding them. Use felt pads under decorative items.
  • Tempered glass is strong but can shatter from a hard edge impact; keep heavy items away from the edges.

Custom cabinetry

Lacquer, matte, wood-grain and textured door fronts

  • Wipe fronts with a soft cloth dampened in warm water and a drop of mild soap, then dry. Avoid abrasive sponges, ammonia and solvent-based cleaners.
  • Wipe up splashes near sinks, ranges and dishwashers promptly; prolonged moisture damages edges.
  • Soft-close hinges and slides need no lubrication. If a door drifts out of line, adjust the hinge screws or contact us for a service visit.
  • High-gloss lacquer shows fingerprints; a microfiber cloth keeps it clean without scratching.

Commercial and hospitality use

Pieces specified for restaurants, lobbies and guest rooms see far more use than a home. We recommend a written cleaning schedule for your housekeeping team, performance fabrics or leather in high-traffic seating, and a quarterly check of frames, bolts and glides. Ask us for the fabric and leather care sheets for your specific order.
